I’ll never forget the sense of camaraderie I felt with hundreds of thousands of traders around the world all in on the same trade, all watching the same charts. The sense of euphoria as $GME mooned, and then the utter despair when they turned the buy button off was indescribable.

The opportunity for education that this situation created. I have learned more about the financial markets in one year than in three-plus decades.

I think back to the Wall Street people and their paid support from academia, lobbyists, researchers, PR firms, and financial press, who claimed that latency arbitrage was a myth and then the SEC told the court in 2021 that Citadel was engaged in latency arbitrage. It reminded me of when the tobacco executives claimed that smoking doesn’t cause cancer. It was amazing that so many Apes listened to the Citadel vs SEC court hearing over the IEX DLIMIT order type.

Watching Keith Gill be a class act in front of Congress.

I remember reading all over the news, social media outlets, and subreddits that the buy button of many brokerages was removed. It became evident financial entities were not on our side and controlled by the 1%, it was a class warfare in plain sight.

I remember waking up in the morning of January 28, 2021 knowing completely nothing of buying shares or stocks. But I remember waking up and reading all over subreddits and Instagram that people invested in GME, AMC and other “meme stocks” were in the middle of a gamma squeeze and the stocks soared to high numbers without a known reason at the time. I was so confused and dumbfounded. The actions of brokers limiting the “Buy” button from their platforms was a way of preventing the stocks from continuing to soar higher, I remember comments saying things like “I’ve been cheated”, or “the 1% is preventing the 99% from making money”. The whole event had transformed into a class warfare for a “fair” and “transparent” market. Following that day, i invested in AMC and became part of the movement, I don’t care if I lose it all, the government and all its financial entities are in it for self interest and continue to rob the American public of their hard earned money.

DFV GME YOLO UPDATE

My favorite memory was when Jim Cramer was having a meltdown live on tv.

I remember reading the GME DD post by u/atobitt "The EVERYTHING Short". It scared the shite out of me, and I then realized how naive the retail public was to the Citadel fuckery that was taking place. I lost sleep that night. Something had to be done about it. I bought 100 more shares the next day, and have slowly added shares of both GME and AMC over the last 10 months or so. When the GME/AMC moon day comes along, all will be right again in the world (for now)

my favorite memory was when I yolod all of my savings into gme and became an ape. I hope one day we see a decentralized exchange with transparency for the average retail investor. This year has taught me that the stock market we know is not for the average retail investor. That needs to change.

It's not really anything specific, but how Apes decided "I am gonna take my tendies and help others" like donating Nintendo Switches and games to children's hospitals, donating to Gorilla funds, when the occasional Ape said they might have to sell a share or 2 to get my financially, other apes stepped up and donated money to them so they wouldn't have to sell...these are a few of my favorite things.

Watching it all happen in bed with my SO and knowing I would be able to explain it all to her afterwards. We’re still in it and I’m still in bed, knowing that I will have to explain it soon enough. I was super toasty back then, and I don’t miss that part. Iwndwyt
